Girl behind the film- Hi, I’m Sydney!
Born and raised in Southern California, my first love was ballet. I started classes at a small community center when I was four and moved to a larger studio in North County by the time I was eight. From then on, the studio became my second home. When they needed someone to photograph dancers and performances, I picked up a camera and I’ve never really put it down.
I went on to earn my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nanoengineering at UC San Diego, specializing in biomedical nanotechnology. Today, I work as a supervisor of liquid-handling automation engineering at a biosciences company in Carmel Valley. Along the way, I’ve been lucky to blend my technical world with my creative one, taking on product photography, filming lab tutorials, capturing company portraits, designing logos, and more.
In 2020, like many of us rediscovering old passions or finding new ones, I fell in love with film. It completely transformed the way I see photography. My true passion is finding beauty in real moments. To me, photography is simply a vehicle for storytelling. I’m a documentary-style photographer and videographer who gravitates toward the unpolished and imperfect. Posed photos have their place, but my favorites are always found in the quiet, candid in-betweens.

When the day finally arrives, you get to be fully present while I document everything naturally, from the big moments to the quiet in-betweens. Afterward, I’ll carefully curate and deliver your gallery and film with all the care your story deserves.
